9th PYIFF takes place from Sept 24 to 30

The ninth Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival (PYIFF) is taking place from Sept 24 to 30 in Pingyao, Shanxi province.

PYIFF is the fifth state-approved international film festival in China, following the Shanghai International Film Festival, Changchun Film Festival·China, Beijing International Film Festival, and Silk Road International Film Festival. 

Since its inception in 2017, PYIFF has served as a bridge for cinematic art, actively organizing diverse Sino-foreign cultural exchange activities. It has become a significant platform for enhancing Shanxi's profile and reputation.

This edition of the film festival will feature ‌54 films‌ from ‌25 countries and regions‌, with ‌30 percent being global premieres‌, ‌65 percent Asian premieres‌, and ‌100 percent Chinese premieres‌. 

Beyond the main program, a special screening unit titled "The People Will Prevail" will present nine war-themed films, alongside the premiere of the Chinese film "General Xu Fanting".
