Qingdao stages farmers' harvest festival to boost rural vitality

Qingdao city — located in East China's Shandong province — has launched its 2025 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival celebration under the theme of "celebrating harvest, sharing a better life".

Aiming to build itself up as a leading model of rural revitalization in Shandong, the city is carrying out 45 public activities through to Oct 10 — focusing on agricultural production, rural life and local traditions while placing farmers at the center of the festivities.

The festival is designed as a major platform to showcase Qingdao's agricultural progress, stimulate urban-rural consumption and to preserve its farming culture.

It features four categories of events: Holiday celebrations, skills competitions and cultconsumption promotions, ural and sports activities.

Highlights include a Qingdao agricultural products promotion fair, with 56 local brands offering high-quality specialties. There's also the China International Seed Industry Expo, legal publicity campaigns and awards for rural community role models.

Through a mixture of public support and market-driven operations, the city and district-level events reflect Qingdao's commitment to increasing agricultural efficiency, enhancing rural vibrancy and raising farmers' incomes.

These activities are said to demonstrate Qingdao's achievements in agricultural and rural development and also strengthen cultural pride, as well as to encourage public involvement in boosting the countryside.

The festival aims to foster widespread social support for farmers and to inject new momentum for turning Qingdao into a strong agricultural city.

The celebration offers tailored activities with regional characteristics, while maintaining a citywide spirit of joy and shared prosperity.
