Nantong spotlights high-tech shipbuilding, marine engineering equipment

The 2025 National Advanced Manufacturing Cluster for High-Tech Marine Engineering Equipment (Nantong) Development Promotion Conference took place in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Sept 16.

Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong, gave a brief overview of Nantong's economic and social progress. He said that Nantong has maintained a century-long focus on shipbuilding and marine engineering as its main industries, with its shipbuilding sector making up 10 percent and marine equipment 25 percent of the country's total.

Nantong is committed to advancing high-end, intelligent, green, and international development of the shipbuilding and marine equipment industries, striving to build a world-class industrial cluster, he added.

Hu Keyi, chief expert of China State Shipbuilding Corp, delivered a special report titled Innovation - New Driving Force for the Transformation and Development of the Ship and Marine Industry. The Nantong municipal government also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Changxing Island development and construction management committee and the Chongming district government to collaborate on creating a world-class shipbuilding and marine engineering industrial cluster.

In addition, Nantong government signed strategic cooperation agreements with China Classification Society and the 708th Research Institute of CSSC. The conference also saw the signing of 16 key projects, covering areas such as supply chain procurement, comprehensive credit, and bank-enterprise cooperation.

The event showcased the latest achievements and development trends in shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment through an exhibition, as well as an innovative product and technology release conference.

The 2025 Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Exhibition was launched on the same day. Spanning three days, the exhibition features over 500 exhibitors, including more than 60 well-known international companies and institutions from countries and regions such as Finland, the Netherlands, and France.
