A newly launched red tourism train in Hebei province is set to enhance travel convenience, promote cultural tourism, and drive rural development in the province's Taihang Mountains region.

It connects downtown Xingtai's Baimahe Station with Jiangshui Station near the Kangda Memorial Hall, covering a 55-kilometer route through mountainous areas.

It has been dubbed "Kangda" after a former military college that briefly operated in Jiangshui town at the foot of the Taihang Mountains from 1940 to 1943.

Launched during the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War, the train highlights Xingtai's red culture and natural beauty, contributing to the sustainable development of old revolutionary areas, local authorities said.

"The train will strengthen regional economic vitality and support revolutionary base areas," said Li Yaohui, deputy director of Xingtai's development and reform commission.

The service uses refurbished trains featuring historical and natural elements. Carriages are decorated with symbols and timelines documenting Kangda's history.

The train provides vital transport for locals. It improves access to urban areas for medical, business, and personal trips, while creating opportunities to ship local agricultural products to broader markets.

"Now, I can take the train to the city center from near my home," said Zhang Xiaopeng, a resident of Zhaishang village near the terminal station. "This new convenient option makes it easier to return home."
