During the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), the Investment Opportunities in the Xiamen Area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Xiamen Airport Economic Zone in 2025 event was held on Sept 9, highlighting the two zones' commitment to deepening institutional openness and seizing global opportunities.
Project implementation is a key driver of regional development. At this year's CIFIT, the Xiamen Free Trade Zone advanced industrial and investment projects significantly, signing 29 major projects with a total investment of 13.18 billion yuan ($1.85 billion). Additionally, plans were made for signing 46 major projects amounting to 46.12 billion yuan, covering sectors like aviation maintenance, shipping logistics, international trade, supply chain management, and cultural trade.
In addition, the Xiamen Free Trade Zone and the Xiamen Airport Economic Zone are leading initiatives for collaborative innovation and development. They are enhancing cooperation in sectors such as aerospace, shipping logistics, and green energy materials, while working together to establish a comprehensive bonded airport zone and develop the "Xiamen University Science and Technology Innovation Circle".
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Xiamen Free Trade ESG Innovation Center. This center will function as an "international rules convergence hub, an integrated service platform, and a talent cultivation and innovation highland". It will gather global resources in ESG technical consulting, verification and certification, financial investment, and standards and public services, providing enterprises with one-stop ESG solutions. This initiative aims to transform Xiamen from an "open highland" to a "green open benchmark".
