​Xi'an Academy of Drama unveiled

On Sept 10, the unveiling ceremony of the Xi'an Academy of Drama was held in Xixian New Area, Xi'an.

At the ceremony, Wang Shusheng, director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, offered his congratulations on the establishment of the school. He said that the school should focus on talent cultivation and create a new center for the preservation and development of the dramatic arts.

Liu Zhengli, secretary of the Party committee of the Xi'an Academy of Drama, said that although the academy is newly established, it carries the important responsibility of inheriting Chinese civilization and spreading Chinese culture. The school will promote scientific research and creation, enhance social service capabilities, and strive to build a high-level dramatics arts college with advanced concepts, distinctive characteristics, and first-class quality, contributing to the construction of a culturally strong province.

The Xi'an Academy of Drama is the first public undergraduate drama institution in the western region and the third public undergraduate drama institution in China. The first batch of 120 undergraduate students will start classes on Sept 14, with four undergraduate majors including performance, theater, film, television literature, and the protection of traditional culture.

The Xi'an Academy of Drama provides a new platform for preserving and advancing local dramatic arts in China and cultivating drama professionals, filling the gap in dramatic arts colleges in the western region.
