Ordos secures 20b-yuan sodium-ion battery project

The government of Juungar Banner, the Juungar Economic Development Zone, and Inner Mongolia Xinjing New Energy Technology Co signed an investment cooperation agreement on Sept 2 for a major sodium-ion battery and energy storage industrial park. Local authorities also issued the company's business license and registration on site.

The project, with a total planned investment of about 20 billion yuan ($2.79 billion), will be built in two phases. Phase I involves an investment of 5 billion yuan with a planned capacity of 10 GWh, while Phase II will receive 15 billion yuan in investment and add 40 GWh of capacity.

Once fully operational, the industrial park is expected to generate an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan and create over 1,500 jobs, providing strong momentum for the region’s new energy industry.
