Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice
Music by Alan Menken
Introduction: This segment is the Chinese version of the Disney musical Beauty and the Beast performed by the CUC Student Musical Troupe. This scene takes place in the musical, where Gaston, the vain and rude villain, celebrates himself with the villagers who admire him. Choreography transforms ordinary props - wine glasses, beer glasses, and wooden tables - into a stunning and visually dynamic spectacle. The seamless integration of cup-shaped percussion and orchestra turns props into instruments, and the dance exaggerates Gaston's narcissism and the blind admiration of the villagers, highlighting the story's criticism of toxic masculinity and thug mentality.
