Imagine stepping into a Buddhist dialogue through an ancient stone. This square niche dating from the Northern Wei to the Eastern Wei dynasties (386-550) may be weathered, yet its details remain vivid.

Vimalakirti, fan in hand, is seated on a round-backed chair, engaging in profound discourse. Opposite him, Bodhisattva Manjushri raises a hand in debate, poised with wisdom. At the center, Shakyamuni Buddha sits in contemplation, one hand supporting his cheek. Beneath the bodhisattvas on both sides, lotus motifs bloom in quiet reverence. Collection: Qinxian County Nannieshui Stone Carving Museum.
