Guzalnur Turhon, who once ran a fabric business elsewhere, returned to open a leisurely facility near her fig orchard.

"Tourists come for fig picking, ethnic cuisine, and dance performances. At peak times, we serve up to 800 people a day," she said. Thanks to the village's well-known fig brand, her fruits sell quickly, and last year, her family earned around 600,000 yuan from fresh fig sales, processing and restaurant operations.

The per capita income of the village which has a population of 4,127 reached 18,531 yuan, up from less than 10,000 yuan five years ago, said Zhang.
