Cross-Strait Red Cross youth kick off Jiangsu journey in Nantong

The 2025 Cross-Strait Red Cross Youth Jiangsu Exchange Program opened at the Nantong Institute of Technology in Jiangsu province on Aug 7.

The program is a sub-event of the fifth Cross-Strait Culture Month. A total of 37 Red Cross youth members and their team leaders from Hualien, Kaohsiung, Nantong, and Huai'an participated in the six days of exchange activities.

Participants agreed that youth from both sides of the Strait play an important role in Red Cross work. They look forward to further strengthening humanitarian and cultural cooperation across the Strait and building platforms for youth involvement in humanitarian public welfare.

During the event, the Cross-Strait Red Cross youth visited Qidong, starting with Tonghai Kenmu Co and the Red Cross Scenic Area First Aid Station. They gained an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of the company, experiencing the entrepreneurial spirit of their predecessors. Afterward, they visited the Cross-Strait Cultural Exhibition Center in the Lyusi Port Economic Development Zone, where they learned about the cooperative achievements between Qidong and Taiwan in economy, culture, and other fields. Finally, the exchange group visited the Cross-Strait Cultural Exhibition Center, where they listened to stories of fishermen from both cities cooperating and helping each other, feeling the vitality that fisheries exchanges bring to grassroots interactions.

The youth will engage in a variety of exchange activities in Nantong, Huai'an, and Nanjing, including exploring international humanitarian law, discussions, visits to Red Cross first aid stations and Red Cross life education bases, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage.
