At the special exhibition on view at Jiangxi Art Museum, step back to the 1940s, when artist Guan Shanyue (1912-2000) traveled deep into Northwest China, sketching rugged landscapes and copying murals of Dunhuang Grottoes. Through Guan's brushstrokes, we rediscover a generation of artists who braved long journeys and harsh conditions to pursue and preserve beauty.
