Jinan wrestler wins gold at World U17 Wrestling Championships

Jiang Jiaqing, a 16-year-old athlete from Jinan Sports School, clinched the gold medal in the women's freestyle 53kg category at the 2025 World U17 Wrestling Championships on Aug 1.

The championships took place from July 28 to Aug 3 in Athens, Greece, bringing together 528 wrestlers from 42 countries and regions.

Jiang stood out with a perfect record, defeating opponents from Germany, Puerto Rico, Russia, and Japan before overcoming the American wrestler 7-4 in the final to win the gold.

Jiang formally began wrestling training at Jinan Sports School in 2021. Since then, she has made a series of notable achievements, including a gold medal at the 2025 National International U17 Wrestling Championships.

Her win highlights not only her personal dedication and skill but also the strength of Jinan's youth training system.
