France's ambassador to China Bertrand Lortholary visited the city of Tai'an in East China's Shandong province on July 29, to explore the growing collaboration between Taishan Mountain and France's Mont-Saint-Michel.

The two sides held in-depth talks on further promoting cooperation in commerce, trade, tourism and culture between Tai'an and France.

Yang Hongtao, Party secretary of Tai'an, noted that French culture held an important position in the history of world civilization and, for its part, Tai'an has always valued exchanges and cooperation with France across various fields, with mountains serving as a connecting bond.

Ambassador Lortholary praised Taishan Mountain's magnificent natural scenery and its profound historical cultural heritage.

Both parties engaged in extensive discussions on advancing the sister-mountain relationship between Taishan Mountain and Mont-Saint-Michel, deepening cooperation in culture and heritage preservation and fostering friendly ties between the Tai'an and French communities.
