Mozart’s String Quartet No 13 in D Minor is performed by four outstanding members of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Communication University of China. Their excellent musicianship laid a solid foundation for the recording and mixing process. The string quartet is a highly demanding genre in terms of ensemble coordination, where achieving a balanced sound among the four instruments is the greatest challenge. This project focused particularly on the use of the main microphone to highlight the leading role of the first violin throughout the piece. The final result presents a well-balanced and dramatically expressive sound.
