Australian cultural delegation finds inspiration in Guilin

An 11-member Australian cultural delegation arrived in Guilin on July 25, launching a three-day exploration of the city's iconic landscapes and cultural sites.

On July 26, David Van Nunen, president of the Australian Watercolour Institute, couldn't wait to sketch atop Yangshuo's Ruyi Peak, saying, "Pictures don't compare to being here - this combination of scenery, city and community fuels my art." He plans to exhibit Guilin-inspired works in Sydney.

The group visited the Museum of Guihai Steles Forest, Elephant Trunk Hill, and Two Rivers and Four Lakes, rafted the Yulong River, and toured Longji terraces. A sculptor in the delegation shot hundreds of photos for his sculptures creation, while Musician Liu Lu drew inspiration from raftsmen's bamboo pole rhythms, hoping to use on compositions.

During their seven-day trip, the delegation will also head to Liuzhou, Nanning, and Chongzuo. With a focus on cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation, the visit aims to foster regular interactions and help promote Guangxi's attractions in Australia.
