Festival offers a platform for young filmmakers

The 6th Beijing Youth Film Festival, part of the Beijing International Film Festival, will open mid-September, the organizers announced during a news conference on Thursday.

A-list actor Huang Xiaoming and actress Shang Yuxian serve as the image ambassador and promotion ambassador of the event, respectively, aiming to use their celebrity to draw public attention to young talent.

The festival will feature eight major activities, covering various areas including creative content incubation, academic exchange, and screening promotion.

The event will also recognize behind-the-scenes talent, such as cinematographers, sound recordists, and art designers. It will also host nonprofit training camps to support young filmmakers in producing low-budget films.
