Inspired by the ancient Chinese sundial—an essential instrument for measuring time through shadow observations—this piece embodies the philosophical interplay between light and darkness. The work unfolds in four main movements (First Light, Noon Shadow, Declining Sun, Duskfall) and a standalone outro, tracing the sun' s journey from dawn to nightfall. Shadows stretch, shorten, and vanish, returning to silence—a cyclical metaphor for time' s unceasing rhythm and the deeper meditation behind ‘measuring time by shadows: time never halts; it only transmigrate.
