In a recent showcase at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Liaoning Ballet and Liaoning Symphony Orchestra presented the original production Qi Xi, based on the well-known Chinese legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
This collaboration between artists from China and France intertwines classical ballet with China's national intangible cultural heritage, Nyushu, which literally means "female script", derived from regular Chinese characters that were once used by the female residents of Jiangyong county, Hunan province.
