The Henan Natural History Museum is a comprehensive science education museum dedicated to the natural history, showcasing the rich geological, paleontological, mineral, and ecological resources of Henan province. The museum features a distinctive modern design, with two life-sized dinosaur sculptures at the entrance modeled after Ruyang county lizard (Ruyangosaurus).
The museum comprises multiple themed exhibition halls, including the Earth Hall, Dinosaur Hall, Life Evolution Hall, Proboscideans Hall, Mineral Resources Hall, Ecology Hall, and Mineral Hall, as well as a 4D motion cinema and an earthquake and tsunami experience theater. These facilities offer an immersive scientific exploration experience for visitors. Outdoor areas include a mineral forest and a science education plaza.
The museum boasts a collection of over 30,000 geological, paleontological, and mineral specimens from Henan and beyond. The dinosaur with the largest body cavity in Asia, the largest nest of dinosaur egg fossils in the world, and the earliest known ginkgo fruit fossil … are all displayed at the museum’s halls.
Additionally, visitors can also enjoy a series of original 3D animated films and multimedia inquiry systems, as well as models of karst landscapes, glaciers, and caves.
