Nantong is utilizing its strategic position in the Yangtze River Delta to develop a strong automotive and auto parts industry. Emphasizing emerging trends such as electrification and intelligent connectivity, Nantong is growing its industrial supply chains and attracting global investment.

Nantong's automotive industry is characterized by rapid growth and innovation. The city has about 230 auto and auto parts companies, each generating at least 20 million yuan ($2.79 million) in annual revenue. It hosts international firms like Scania and Bader, along with local specialists in engines, chassis, and electronics.

The five locations in the city developing the automotive industry are collaborating, with Rugao leading in new energy vehicles and Chongchuan in intelligent connected vehicles.

Nantong's success stems from its proactive approach to international cooperation, especially with Germany. Currently, the city is home to 107 German-invested companies and is establishing itself as a hub for automotive innovation.
