Jiayuguan Jiuquan Airport launches new routes

Jiayuguan Jiuquan Airport, located in Jiayuguan, Gansu province, opened two new round-trip air routes on July 1, marked by the arrival of China Eastern Airlines' inaugural flight from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 3:22 pm.

The Airbus A320 flight launched direct services connecting Jiayuguan Jiuquan Airport with both Shanghai Hongqiao and Beijing Daxing airports.

The new routes also brought a second stationed aircraft to the airport, making Jiayuguan Jiuquan the first regional airport in Gansu province to host two based aircraft.

This expansion reduces the airport's reliance on a single airframe and strengthens route planning and operational flexibility.

With the summer travel season in full swing, Jiayuguan Jiuquan Airport is ramping up efforts to optimize its flight schedule and enhance service capacity.

In the first half of 2025, the airport had handled 553,800 passengers — a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent.
