Folk song event opens in Hohhot

The opening performance featured a selection of pieces of Chinese folk songs, where the performers conveyed their love for life and homeland through their vocals. The audience was intrigued by the compelling choral performances, which showcased the distinctive charm of indigenous folk songs from various regions of China.
First introduced in 2019 and held every two years, this year’s festival features 65 participating groups, with nearly 400 performers from across the country. The performances span 42 national-level intangible cultural heritage items and 23 provincial-level heritage projects.
