The 1-kilometer hubo channel linking the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) and the Hongqiao transportation hub has become a hub for eco-friendly initiatives and circular economy ventures.

Since 2023, the hubo channel at the Hub has been renowned for its second-hand treasures and sustainable projects.

UN officials David Wilgenbus and Djian Sadadou participated in a unique second-hand suitcase renovation project here, highlighting the global reach of these efforts.

Recently, the HUB was upgraded into a "carbon quality" lifestyle block to mark the National Low-Carbon Day.

It now features eco-friendly businesses like ZZER Transparent Warehouse for luxury consignment and Green Cycle Stores, positioning itself as a showcase of Minhang district's low-carbon appeal.

The HUB's appeal lies in its innovative approach to second-hand trading, reflecting a shift towards sustainable living.

Environmentalist Chen Jie, a frequent visitor, exemplifies this trend by sourcing clothes and accessories from circular stores, spending as little as 50 yuan (about $7) for her outfits. This cycle allows guilt-free decluttering and optimal living solutions at minimal cost.

The HUB's latest upgrade enhances its second-hand trading strengths by introducing low-carbon tech experiences and upcycling workshops. Project leaders aim to attract the Yangtze River Delta community, transitioning from a "circular economy retail area" to a lifestyle benchmark. The initiative, supported by a partnership between 20 enterprises, promotes green brands and low-carbon lifestyle innovations, positioning the HUB as a key node in connecting green supply and consumption.

With daily foot traffic of 1.2 million, the HUB is set to become the starting point for showcasing a "Low-Carbon Shanghai", enhancing the city's image as a leader in sustainable urban living.
