The fifth round of the Jiangsu Football City League, or Suchao, began on the night of June 29 at the Haimen base of the Nantong Football Training Center, featuring an exciting match between Nantong and Suqian.
The scene at Xinghu City Plaza in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), serving as a secondary venue for Suchao, buzzed with excitement before the start. Specialty foods from 13 Jiangsu cities tempted fans' taste buds, while a pre-match band's energetic rock music fueled the crowd's enthusiasm.
Around the 35th minute, Nantong scored their first goal, sparking cheers from fans under the night sky. After 90 minutes of intense play, Nantong achieved a 4–0 victory over Suqian, marking their fourth straight win. The crowd celebrated, reveling in the team's dominant performance.
"I never expected off-site viewing to be so thrilling!" said Xiao Zhao, a young worker from Anhui province working at NETDA. "NETDA has a young community — it's an ideal spot to come together and watch the game."
Zhang Haidong, an 80s-born die-hard fan of the Nantong team, said, "Even if I couldn't get tickets to cheer in the stadium, watching from this secondary venue and enjoying a beer is still exciting!" He expressed great pride in Nantong's performance as a local resident.
During the Suchao matches, Nantong broadcast the games live on large screens throughout the city viewing zones, immersing spectators in the thrilling atmosphere of the pitch. The city also hosted various night markets and food streets, allowing attendees to enjoy both sports excitement and culinary experiences.
