Summer vibes in Xi'an: Square cultural events in full swing

The launch ceremony of the "Ten Thousand Lights Shine on Chang'an" 2025 Xi'an Summer Square Mass Cultural Activity, as an important part of the Xi'an branch of the 2025 Shaanxi Provincial Mass Culture Festival, unfolded with vibrant performances and lively public participation on the evening of July 1 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

A diverse array of wonderful performances, ranging from music and dance to  opera, recitations, and acrobatics, took to the stage one after another, set against the backdrop of a gentle breeze drifting from Xingqing Lake.

While celebrating grassroots artistic expression, the activity offered both locals and tourists a taste of the cultural richness and leisure that come with the fusion of culture and tourism, creating a truly enjoyable "Cultural Night" experience.

The Summer Square Mass Cultural Activity is a signature cultural brand of  Xi'an and has won the Qunxing Award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Over the years, this activity has regularly brought performances to  communities, rural areas, schools, military units, factories and mines, and has become an indispensable part of the city's public cultural life.

That evening, about 250,000 people tuned in to the live broadcast for free through digital platforms such as Shaanxi Public Culture Cloud, Xi'an Culture and Tourism, Xi'an Release, Xi'an Mass Art Museum, and Baihua Magazine, enjoying the grand performance at the Summer Square.

The activity was hosted by the Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, organized by the Xi'an Mass Art Museum, the Beilin District Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Sports, and co-organized by Xingqing Palace Park which served as the main venue for the launch ceremony that evening.
