The Ningxia-Hunan ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project completed its 168-hour trial operation on Sunday.

The project boasts a transmission capacity of 4 million kilowatts, providing clean power support for Hunan province's power grid during the peak summer demand period.

It is the first ultra-high voltage power transmission channel in China with coal power as a backup, new energy from barren desert regions as the primary source, and a target of more than 50 percent green electricity transmission.

It starts at the Zhongning converter station in Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, passes through Gansu province, Shaanxi province, Chongqing, and Hubei province, and ends at the Hengyang converter station in Hengyang, Hunan, spanning approximately 1,616 kilometers.

As a key part of China's west-to-east power transmission program, Ningxia's cumulative outbound power transmission has exceeded 800 billion kilowatt-hours.
