Tsinghua University supplying talent to country's key sectors

One of its initiatives is a program to send teams of students to conduct on-site interviews and internships with major employers. Nearly 600 students participate each year, with about one-fifth turning their experience into a full-time job.

Regular on-campus recruitments and large-scale job fairs are also held alongside targeted hiring events for industries such as manufacturing and energy, covering 20,000 students every year.

In March, Tsinghua hosted its largest spring job fair, drawing more than 720 employers from across 30 provinces and regions. Tens of thousands of job openings spanned sectors including information technology, defense, and heavy industry.

Feng Chenlong, a PhD graduate in energy and power engineering, will soon head to Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, to work in aircraft engine maintenance. "Tsinghua's education subtly guided my career decision," Feng said, adding that he would contribute to the country's national defense with what he's learned at school.
