The 2025 Unicorn Enterprise Innovation and Development Conference held in Zhengzhou on June 18 and 19 gathered global unicorn enterprises, investment institutions, and government representatives to explore new opportunities in technological innovation and industrial transformation.
The event showcased the rise of unicorn enterprises globally, with China leading the charge. As of 2024, China boasted over 370 unicorn enterprises, comprising nearly a third of the global unicorn market share. Newly established unicorn enterprises were primarily from China and the United States, with China demonstrating significant growth in sectors like integrated circuits, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.
Chinese unicorn enterprises showed a trend towards RMB and state-led financing, emphasizing the role of state-owned industrial capital in driving growth. Additionally, Chinese unicorn enterprises witnessed a notable increase in international patent applications, particularly in cloud services, power batteries, and clean energy sectors.
Zhengzhou, with its strong industrial foundation and strategic location, aims to foster unicorn enterprises and build a collaborative ecosystem. An Wei, secretary of Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee, highlighted the city's commitment to innovation and collaboration, aiming to attract global unicorn enterprises to establish a presence in Zhengzhou.
Looking ahead, Zhengzhou plans to optimize its business environment, promote innovation, and deepen industry collaborations. With a focus on high-quality development, the city aims to become a hub for unicorn enterprises, contributing to technological advancements and economic growth on a global scale.
