Yantai's renowned wine brand, Changyu, with its Noble Dragon N188, a cabernet sauvignon, has been awarded the prestigious "Best in Show" title by the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), making it the first Chinese wine to achieve this accolade.

The N188, primarily blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and merlot, is a wine targeted at banquet consumers. Judges described it as having a deep and delicate fruity flavor with tannins providing backbone, making it an elegant choice for dining occasions.

The DWWA, now in its 22nd year, is the world's largest wine competition and holds significant influence in the wine industry. The competition is renowned for its rigorous judging process. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Decanter magazine, attracting wine entries from 57 countries and regions.

In the 2024 DWWA, Changyu's premium wine – the 2016 vintage red wine from Chateau Tinlot –  achieved the highest score among Chinese wines with 96 points.
