On June 2, the ancient water sport “Duzhupiao” (single bamboo drifting) captivated crowds on Wuhan’s Hanjiang River. As part of the 2025 Wuhan Qiaokou Hanjiang Bay Paddleboard Open, performers balanced barefoot on single, slender bamboo poles, gliding gracefully with 4.5-meter paddles. Originating in Guizhou during the Qin-Han era (221 BC-AD 220), this UNESCO-recognized art form seamlessly blends athleticism with cultural legacy.
