Hohhot welcomes 1.76 million Dragon Boat Festival tourists

Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received a total of 1.76 million domestic tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from May 31 to June 2, marking an 11.64 percent year-on-year increase. Total tourism revenue reached 1.2 billion yuan ($166.75 million), a 6.77 percent increase from 2024.

The holiday was filled with vibrant events. From May 31 to June 1, the Hohhot Art Museum hosted a series of cultural exhibitions, drawing over 4,000 visitors. On June 1, the 2025 Laoniuwan Yellow River Grand Canyon 100K Cross-Country Race attracted more than 4,000 runners from across China.

At Saishang Old Street, tourists were immersed in festive performances, including a dragon and lion dance competition, folk culture feasts, and music festivals. On the Chilechuan Grassland, events like the "Sing in Inner Mongolia" sunset concert and the live-action show Joyful Chilechuan offered cultural delights.

Nearly 10,000 residents and visitors also gathered by the Dahei River for Hohhot's first-ever Dragon Boat Festival race, cheering for their favorite teams.

The equestrian spirit was also on display at the 2025 Hohhot Speed Horse Racing Series, where the third race day attracted over 6,000 onsite spectators and more than 100,000 online viewers.

Adding a thrilling highlight to the holiday, China's U16 national football team won the championship at the 2025 CFA "Xingtai Cup" International Football Tournament in Hohhot, sparking national pride and celebration.
