The 2025 Hohhot Half Marathon kicked off along Silk Road Avenue on May 25, attracting nearly 10,000 participants from 33 provinces and cities across China – a record-breaking turnout for the event.

The course followed a scenic route along Silk Road Avenue, connecting iconic cultural and natural landmarks such as the Grassland Silk Road Cultural Park, Niujiao Bridge, and the Dahei River. Runners were treated to a cultural journey with "a view at every step".
The race featured unique refreshment stations offering Hohhot specialties like milk tea and yogurt pancakes, allowing runners to savor the region's culinary charm mid-race.
The event also embraced smart technologies, including an e-signature signup platform and a digital race guide, making registration and agreements more efficient. Finishers could even scan their medals to unlock AR animations with grassland themes.

Veteran runner Wang Liping shared that marathons boost confidence and embody the spirit of persistence. Her personal best for the half marathon is 2 hours and 15 minutes.
After intense competition, Qi Zhenfei, Baobi Lige, and Ma Junping claimed the top three titles in the men's race, while Tong Laga, Dai Wenyue, and Li Xin led the women's category.

Organizers emphasized this year's integration of sports, tourism, culture, and technology. Hohhot aims to continue developing high-quality, culturally rich sporting events that promote fitness and tourism.
