Hainan, the tropical island province of China, has become an increasingly popular destination for international travelers. To further enhance the shopping experience for overseas visitors, the Chinese government has improved its departure tax refund policy for overseas travelers.
Currently they can enjoy an instant tax refund with the threshold lowered to 200 yuan ($27.8). Additionally, the maximum amount that can be received as a cash refund has been raised from 10,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan.

• Overseas travelers must possess an active pre-authorized credit card.
• Overseas visitors agree to depart within the specified time limit and from the designated port.

Whole procedures for instant tax refund:
1. Purchasing at designated stores:
☛Complete the credit card pre-authorization.
☛Request a value-added tax invoice and a Tax Refund Application Form from the store.
☛Receive the refunds on site.

2. Customs verification:
At the airport or port of departure, present your goods, tax invoices, Tax Refund Application Form and valid personal ID to customs officials for inspection.
3. Tax refund agency:
♦ Proceed to the tax refund agency.
♦ Submit your valid passport, stamped Tax Refund Application Form, and tax invoices.
♦ The credit card pre-authorization will be lifted once all information is confirmed for eligible overseas visitors.
