The Greater Hinggan Mountain tourist train embarked on its maiden journey from Hailaar, Hulunbuir city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on May 19, marking the launch of an eco-tourism experience through Inner Mongolia's vast woodlands.

The train departed at 7:10 am with more than 60 passengers onboard, beginning a three-day, two-night journey northward through lush forests, stopping at key destinations including Kuduer, Genhe, Mangui, and Tulihe Forest Industry Company.

Designed for immersive cultural and tourism engagement, the train offers a unique blend of experiences: passengers can enjoy live performances by the Ulan Muqir art troupe, explore traditional handicrafts, sample regional forest cuisine, purchase forest-sourced products, and benefit from personalized concierge services.

On May 20, the train will arrive at Mangui Station, where guests will attend the opening ceremony of the Hongdou Forest Lodging and spend the night in eco-friendly accommodations – a new form of forest-based tourism.

Operating from May through October, the train will run nine round trips throughout the season.

By combining sightseeing, cultural immersion, and ecological stewardship, the train offers a distinctive forest tourism experience and opens new market opportunities for local tourism-related businesses. It represents a pioneering model in the shift toward a green economy, setting a new benchmark for sustainable development in the Greater Hinggan Mountains.
