The Fuzhou Dragon Boat Theme Park – combining sports, competition, tourism, training and research – opened on May 15 with great fanfare.
It's a new landmark for dragon boat culture and tourism that the city of Fuzhou – capital of East China's Fujian province – is focusing on developing along the Puxia River.
The river is Fuzhou's first dragon boat competition water area that meets international standards, with a racetrack length of 500 meters. In recent years, it's hosted top dragon boat competitions including the China Longzhou Tournament, becoming an important destination for folks to really experience the fantastic dragon boat culture.
The newly built Fuzhou Dragon Boat Culture Exhibition Hall is located on the first floor of the auxiliary building, next to the main grandstand in the park. Through displays of dragon boat-related items, old photos, ancient poems, videos and text introductions, the colorful world of Fuzhou dragon boats is entertainingly presented to the audience.
In addition to recreational activities like walking and other pursuits, after its opening, the Fuzhou Dragon Boat Theme Park will focus on creating the country's first park-based micro-business complex with dragon boats as its theme, bringing more surprises and experiences to people.
