Directed by the renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou and directors Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue, the Impression: Sanjie Liu is the first-ever large-scale live-action performance set in natural landscapes in China. Integrating the breathtaking scenery of the Lijiang River, the rich culture of Guangxi’s ethnic groups, and the creativity of China’s top artists, this groundbreaking show has become a model for successful cultural productions in China.

Inspired by the legendary Guangxi folk singer Liu Erjie, the performance goes beyond a single narrative. Using the composition techniques of traditional Chinese painting, it blends real mountains and rivers with the distinctive melodies and rhythms of ethnic songs. Through stunning visual effects and artistic choreography, it vividly portrays the natural beauty along the Lijiang River, the daily lives of fishermen and villagers, and the vibrant folk customs of ethnic groups, including Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Dong.

As of March 2024, the show had been performed over 8,000 times, welcoming three million international guests and a total audience of 20 million.
