The ITF (International Tennis Federation) World Tennis Masters Tour MT400 Xi'an kicked off on May 8 at the Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Tennis Sports Park.
The four-day competition has attracted 400 tennis players from 10 countries and regions, including Portugal, Switzerland, Russia, and China.
The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour, formerly known as the ITF International Senior Tennis Tour, was held for the first time in 2019. The Chinese Tennis Association (CTA) has held seven tournaments.
The ITF launched the World Tennis Masters Tour in 2022, creating an international amateur tennis tournament for enthusiasts worldwide. More than 500 tournaments are held annually in 70 countries and regions for over 35,000 registered athletes.
The 2025 Xi'an tour level has been upgraded from MT200 to MT400, reflecting the ITF and the CTA's recognition of the Xi'an ITL Tennis Sports Park's event organization and software and hardware facilities. This competition has seven age groups and 22 individual events, with a total prize pot of 110,000 yuan ($15,175).
A competition representative said the event organizer hope to provide high-quality and competitive tennis experiences for enthusiasts through high-level international tennis events, and promote sports development in Xi'an Chanba International Port, contributing to Xi'an's transformation into a global sports city.
