​Xi'an tourism revenue exceeds 12b yuan during May Day holiday

During the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, Xi'an's cultural and tourism industry achieved impressive results.

The city received a total of 14.75 million tourist visits, a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent, and the total tourism revenue reached 12.33 billion yuan ($1.71 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.55 percent.

According to Trip.com, Xi'an is among the top 10 popular tourist destinations in China and top 10 inbound tourist destinations, and has also become one of the top 10 favorite cities among young people.

During this year's May Day holiday, more than 20 museums in the city switched to a "super long standby" mode. Over 10 museums temporarily cancelled their rest days, significantly improving reception capacity.

The Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, and Xi'an Museum received 333,900, 69,200, and 83,800 visits, respectively, increases of 16.1 percent, 19.9 percent, and 125.8 percent year-on-year.

Scenic spots above 3A-level received 7.82 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent. The number of domestic group tourists received by travel agencies in the city increased by 11.12 percent year-on-year, and the number of inbound group tourists increased by 149.73 percent year-on-year.

Xi'an will continue to integrate its ancient charm with new trends, promoting the city's cultural tourism and attracting tourists from all over the world.
