Located at the southern foot of the middle part of the Dabie Mountains at the junction of Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces, the Guifeng Mountain scenic area consists of nine peaks, with the highest being the Daofeng Peak, which has an altitude of 1,320 meters.

With an exceptional environment of beautiful mountains and waters, fresh air, and a forest coverage rate of 95 percent, the Guifeng Mountain scenic area enjoys the reputation of "green treasure" and "natural oxygen bar". As an ideal place for sightseeing, leisure and vacation, it is currently a national 5A-level tourist attraction, a national eco-tourism demonstration area, and an important part of the Dabie Mountains Global Geopark.

The scenic area consists of two visitor centers, Guifeng Rising Sun, the sea of azalea flowers, the Daofeng Peak core scenic area, and the Guankou’ao leisure resort area. It provides tourists with science popularization of geological wonders, mountain sports and leisure, summer skiing vacations, as well as Chinese revolutionary history, folk culture experience and various other tourism products.

Guifeng Mountain has five wonders, comprising the largest and most vivid turtle-shaped mountain in the world, the sea of azalea flowers, more than 200,000 pine trees, a large area of beautiful rime (frozen fog) landscape in early spring, autumn, and winter, and the shrouded mist over the mountains all year-round.
