The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region landed a landmark 427 million yuan ($58.74 million) cashmere trade deal during the first "Albas Cup" Cashmere Goat Beauty Contest on April 28.
Seven top-tier companies, including Italy's luxury brand COLOMBO and domestic leaders like Consinee and Zhejiang Xinao, signed purchase agreements with seven local cashmere enterprises.
The agreements span the full cashmere supply chain – from raw material procurement to high-end finished products – highlighting Ordos' growing integration into global markets and its push toward standardization and internationalization.
Ordos currently boasts over 6.9 million cashmere goats and produces more than 3,500 metric tons of raw cashmere annually. This accounts for 58.7 percent of Inner Mongolia’s output, 25 percent of China’s, and 15 percent of the global total.
With an annual production of over 10 million cashmere products, Ordos remains the world's leading source and processing hub for premium cashmere.
