Panlongcheng, a key archaeological site in Wuhan, Hubei province, illuminates the early stages of Chinese civilization. Dating back to the early Shang Dynasty (c. 16th–11th century BC), Panlongcheng was a vast city settlement and a pivotal stronghold of the Shang Dynasty in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
The site reveals fascinating elements of early urban planning, advanced bronze craftsmanship, and cultural connections between the Yellow and Yangtze rivers. New findings also help reconstruct ancient landscapes and rare stone structures, providing fresh insights into China’s early statecraft and cultural heritage.
