On Saturday, Tianjin's Tianhou Palace hosted a vibrant celebration for the 1065th birthday of Mazu (the Chinese Sea Goddess), featuring the Tianjin Royal Parade, a national intangible cultural heritage event. 21 heritage troupes from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei joined the spectacle, forming a 1.9 km-long procession of lions, stilts, umbrella bearers, and more. Rooted in Yuan and Ming dynasties (1271-1644), this rare northern Mazu ritual continues to captivate generations.
