Dunhuang welcomes spring with apricot blossoms

Early April marks the arrival of spring in Dunhuang, Gansu province, as warm breezes sweep across the unique desert landscape. At the foot of the famed Mingsha Mountain (Singing Sand Mountain), apricot trees are bursting into bloom, signaling the start of the region's vibrant spring scenery.

Near Crescent Spring village, the delicate, pinkish-white apricot blossoms offer a striking contrast to the surrounding environment. Their subtle fragrance adds to the refreshing spring atmosphere. The blossoms frame the rolling dunes of Mingsha Mountain, creating a captivating scene where the vast golden sands meet the soft colors of spring.

The apricot blossom season coincides with a notable increase in tourism activity. According to data from local officials, the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring scenic spot received 2,705 visitors on April 2, representing a 14.67 percent increase compared to 2024.

Visitors are increasingly drawn to Dunhuang during this period to witness the distinctive spectacle of apricot flowers blooming against the dramatic desert backdrop, experiencing the unique charm of the area in springtime.
