E-sports event celebrates 50 years of Xi'an, Nara friendship

An online e-sports exchange event between Xi'an, Shaanxi province, and Nara in Japan recently brought together 16 participants from both cities to compete, connect, and celebrate their longstanding friendship.

Through the thrill of competitive gaming, participants deepened mutual understanding and fostered new bonds, injecting fresh vitality into cultural exchanges.

E-sports, a global cultural phenomenon, is emerging as a dynamic new platform for international engagement.

Players from Xi'an and Nara showcased impressive gaming skills, team spirit, and a shared passion for e-sports. The event also featured a live viewing session, where spectators cheered on the players, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Wang Zirui and Weng Zhonghan from Xidian University in Xi'an claimed the top two overall scores, while three from Nara secured third to fifth places.

Participants expressed that the event offered excitement and a deeper appreciation of each city.

This event marks the 50th anniversary of sister-city relationships and is a meaningful tribute to half a century of enduring friendship between Xi'an and Nara.

Since establishing ties in 1974, the two cities have collaborated across culture, education, and sports, yielding fruitful outcomes and lasting connections.

More than just a competition, the event symbolizes how tradition and modernity can intersect, paving the way for deeper understanding and more diverse collaborations in the coming years.
