"The leading role of science fiction in the technology industry should be enhanced, promoting more disruptive innovation and original breakthroughs," he said. "It can help ignite the enthusiasm and curiosity of young people for scientific exploration."

Yin Yong, deputy Party secretary of Beijing and mayor, said that Beijing has gathered over 800 science fiction enterprises, with an industry scale of 48 billion yuan ($6.61 billion).

"Beijing attaches great importance to the development of the science fiction industry," he said. "The science fiction industry cluster area represented by Shougang Park in Shijingshan district is taking shape rapidly."
