Jinan, Shandong province, is taking steps to expand its elderly care services, aiming to enhance the well-being and happiness of its senior citizens.

The city plans to establish three smart nursing homes and three virtual nursing homes in communities, offering both online and offline services for elderly residents by making use of advanced technologies such as mobile devices, wearables, and service robots.

The city will continue to increase the number of professional care beds, with 700 new care beds to be added by the end of 2025. Special attention will be given to elderly people with disabilities or dementia, with 800 new cognitive care beds to be established as well.

Jinan is also set to stimulate the elderly care product market by utilizing long-term government bonds to fund home modification programs for seniors over 60 years old. Elderly care services will be expanded in communities, with 20 new facilities and 20 regional elderly service centers to be built. Furthermore, 26 communities will provide rental and display services for elderly products and rehabilitation aids.

Jinan aims to attract leading domestic and international elderly care enterprises to promote investment in the sector. Local authorities plan to introduce two to three respected companies to operate senior care projects and support local public and private entities in enhancing elderly care infrastructure.
