In ancient China, deer and cranes symbolized longevity and auspiciousness. This bronze crane with deer antlers combines both and is an extraordinary artifact unearthed from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng dating to the Warring States Period (475-221 BC)!

Viewed from the front, this bronze figure creates a stunning fusion of curves and straight lines. Adorned with intricate gold-inlaid swirling cloud motifs, feather and triangle decorations, and turquoise inlays, it embodies the romantic and imaginative spirit of the Chu people.

Discovered near the main coffin, this artifact may have been placed there as a guardian, offering divine protection. Collection: Hubei Provincial Museum.
