This exquisite Yue ware celadon lotus-shaped bowl is a true gem of Five Dynasties (907-960) craftsmanship. Consisting of a bowl and a stand, its design mimics a blooming lotus flower, with delicately carved overlapping petals adorning its exterior. The soft jade-like glaze, known as mise (secret color), exudes a timeless elegance.
Discovered in 1956 at the Yunyan Pagoda on Tiger Hill in Suzhou, this piece is considered a benchmark of mise porcelain. Collection: Suzhou Museum.
