The Liangzhu Museum stands as an archaeological site museum dedicated to the collection, study, exhibition, and promotion of Liangzhu culture, the last Chinese Neolithic jade culture in the Yangtze River Delta, which dates back 4,300-5,300 years ago.

Spanning an impressive 10,000 square meters, the museum has a collection of more than 3,000 movable cultural relics, mainly jade, pottery, stone vessels, bone objects, as well as pottery and ceramics from ancient times. This architectural marvel opened its doors to the public in October 2008.

The theme of the museum's permanent exhibition is Liangzhu Archaeological Site: A Sacred Place to Showcase the 5,000-year-old Chinese Civilization. Through its three exhibition halls – The Early Wetland State, A Sacred Place of Civilization, and Jade as the Spiritual Symbol of the State, the museum displays various burial objects found in the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ruins have gained worldwide recognition as bearing testimony to the existence of at least 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

The permanent exhibition features 608 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, nearly half of which are new archaeological discoveries in the past 10 years. Typical objects on display are jade Cong, jade Bi, jade Yue, jade-inlaid lacquer cups, and carved pottery jars.

The exhibition pioneers innovative display concepts, leverage advanced presentation methods and techniques, diversify outreach strategies, blend traditional showcases with digital interfaces, and harness cutting-edge technologies like large-scale paintings, immersive scene recreations, digital multimedia, and 3D printing.

Augmented reality glasses feature among a string of measures taken by the museum to provide a more vivid and immediate experience of Liangzhu civilization, while helping visitors gain a better appreciation of Chinese culture.
